T+T GLOSSARY

Common TOIL + TRBL soap terminology:

An ongoing log of terms that I use in the lab…

H20

Dihydrogen monoxide; also known as water. Liquid of life. Though Team T+T are diehard Liquid Death fans. (Not sponsored, but call us, LD! We love water.)

NAOH

Sodium hydroxide; also known as lye. Lye is one of the essential three ingredients in soap. It is chemically basic, which means it is caustic to the skin + extremely dangerous if not handled properly. (Cue the infamous soap scene from Fight Club.)

TIO2

Titanium Dioxide. Titanium Dioxide is a white, water-insoluble solid, used as an additive to stabilize pigment.
